Camtronics — Letchworth

Camtronics Ltd. are a Company in Letchworth who operate in the service sector of the Digital camera market carrying out repairs etc. to digital still and video cameras, and tv’s amongst other activities. A scroll through their website will give you the full picture.

Camtronics were faced with the conundrum of knowing further expansion would be required in 2012, but were utilising their existing accommodation to its full extent at that point.

The unit immediately next door and partied to their own premises became available and the Directors of the company took the view to invest now prior to new contracts being in place.

Morgans Project Management Services / MPM carried out a full design and build project and converted the empty shell into an operational unit that incorporated:

  • A storage and distribution facility on ground and mezzanine levels utilising a mezzanine with associated staircases, loading gate, hand, knee and kick rails, pallet storage racks and shelving.
  • A suite of offices to the mezzanine level accommodating, tele-sales, conference room, boardroom and directors suite all being completed in a combination of stud partitions, doors and ceilings to provide the aesthetic finish required and also the requirements of the building control and fire officer. The entire area was completed to a carpet finish.
  • Builders work was undertaken to create 2 new double door openings in the party wall. One at Mezzanine level and one at ground floor level to achieve personnel access and goods access from their existing unit into the new facility.
  • We created a new welfare facility incorporating a disabled unisex toilet and a kitchen / canteen facility
  • A Workshop repair facility was created on the ground floor with benches and racks etc.
  • All M&E works including, full air-handling and ambient control systems, power and lighting services, data and communications, plumbing and drainage works, and main utility connections were fully designed by MPM to meet with all requirements and regulations.
  • Decoration to walls, floors, doors and ceilings and trims.

The whole project was completed under a JCT Construction Contract. Full CDM and Health and safety plan existed and the site was fully run and managed by Morgans Projects.

Ramp Assembly – Rochdale

The Rochdale Community Centre houses many activities for a wide range of member’s  of the area. The access into the unit is via a single personnel door that is 1.5m from ground level. The unit, for some years, was accessed via an old concrete staircase and a cobbled together scaffold ramp.

MPM Designed and Manufactured a fully integrated Access Ramp and stair unit Compliant to Part “M” of the Building Regulations, providing a safe access fort the disabled person. The Project was completed in conjunction with Equity Shop Fitter’s and Bizspace who in fact provided the crew for the installation phase of the project, under the supervision of our own Projects Director they completed the installation Phase.

The Walkway surface was coated with a 3M anti-slip self adhesive tape for a full non-slip surface and provided a safe access for any person with such disabilities including people with visual impairments given the contrast on rising surfaces and steps. All Handrails were fully continuous and coated high-vis yellow and in-filled with galvanised sheet steel panel’s

Regent Bingo – Spalding

Regent Bingo in Spalding is housed in an old cinema in town and given the shear cubic volume of the building the cost of heating and ventilation was extortionate as well as lighting levels and sound amplification was poor.

Given that space for our installation team was tight we engaged a specialist track driven Boom lift to achieve working at height.

We then supplied a Unistrut Suspension system to support a new 600 x 600 suspended system which was attached directly to the attic floor joists.

Incorporated within the ceiling we supplied a full lighting system c/w emergency packs and smoke detection units.

The ceiling structure is fully quilted above with a 100mm Rockwool Quilt for additional insulation and already the client is quoting a reduction of 60% in Heating bills.

Through out the entire works the client did not lose 1 hour of trading as we worked nights etc. unlike the competition who wished to build a permanent Scaffold structure to work from which would have effectively closed the clients business down for 4 weeks

Gladys Malpass House – Halstead

Design & Build Project by The Apollo Group & Mild Engineering Ltd. The steel structures supplied & Installed by MPM are to support and stabilize an existing block of flats in Halstead, Essex that are under current conversion works for onward occupation. The total works included Support Columns for Floors and Balcony Structures, Lintels for doorway’s and stabilizing columns for new walls, to be built internally, and full support U/C’s as shown in the picture, the RHS finger beams are temporary to support upper walls whilst under construction.

Molan UK – Heckington

19/12/2010

100 m/2 of Mezzanine Floor for Molan UK Ltd. who are based in Heckington, Lincolnshire. The platform is designed to accomadate storage above, and the creation of an assembley workshop below. It was built complete with a cranked staircase for personnel access, Hand & Knee rails to the exposed perimeters & an extended loadgate for 2 metre wide pallets. The installation was complete in 3 Days ready for use by the Client.
